Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Business Intelligence (BI) & SQL Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Junior BI Developer, you will be responsible for assisting in data analysis, reporting, and supporting various Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of SQL, a good understanding of Business Intelligence concepts, and a keen interest in data-driven decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and optimisation of SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable, modern business intelligence (BI) systems.
- Contribute to the development of API-based integrations (SOAP and REST).
- Support the creation of BI reports and dashboards using various BI tools.
- Support initiatives in modern data handling, such as data meshing and the creation of web-based dashboards (e.g. health status indicators).
- Participate in ingesting or integrating data from various sources and preparing it for analysis.
- Collaborate with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for reporting and analysis.
- Provide general support to the BI team, including troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving basic data issues.
- Maintaining clear, accessible documentation (e.g., schemas, data lineage, API specs) as directed by the BI Architect.
- Apply best practices in data quality, data governance, and compliance.
- Participate in Agile development cycles and contribute to sprint deliverables.
- Communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally, with team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience.
- Proficiency in C#-based ETL processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SSIS and API-based integrations (SOAP and REST).
- Familiarity with semantic modelling using Microsoft SSAS tabular or Power BI semantic models.
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL (queries, joins, aggregations, etc.).
- Good understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) concepts, such as reporting, dashboards, and data visualisation.
- Familiarity with Data Lake/Warehousing (DWH) concepts and their advantages.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large datasets.
- Basic understanding of data access controls, row-level security (RLS) and relevant data governance frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the BI and SQL fields.
- Familiarity with data quality management practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the automotive industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with Power BI and exposure to the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and data architecture in cloud environments is a plus.
- Previous work experience, internships, or coursework in Business Intelligence (BI), Data Analytics, or related fields is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git-based version control systems.
- Basic understanding of DevOps principles in the context of data workflows.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Exposure to additional BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Looker) is a plus.
- Understanding of DAX for interactive Power BI dashboard development is a plus.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python or R.

Other Requirements:
- Ideally, the candidates will already be based in Malta and hold a valid EU working permit.
- On the job training would be provided.
